The trail begins and ends in the campground. Both termini are signed. Beginning at the trailhead near campsite #14, the trail descends on an old road through a pine forest to Spring Creek and follows the stream bank for about .5 mile. Watch for rock, walls and other traces of the past where crops and pastures have given way to trees. It then climbs gradually back to the campground through white pines planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1940's. You will pass the trail to the amphitheater, then the Van Cliff Trailhead on your left. The trail offers a pleasant hike through a hardwood and pine forest along a cascading mountain stream.
