Mossy Creek Trail is an easy 0.5-mile trail through a sweet gum, oak, loblolly and ash woodland. Blazed in blue, the trail may be reached off the historical Plantation Trail or reached via a trailhead located in the main boat launch area at the back of the upper parking lot. (This is well marked.) At one time this trail was restricted to foot use only. With the opening of Panhandle Trail, a new 15-mile multi-use trail, Mossy Creek now has a portion open to mountain bikers.
Directions: From Clarksville, VA, Occoneechee State Park is on U.S. 58, 1.5 miles east of Clarksville in Mecklenburg County which rests on the North Carolina border. After entering the park, turn right to reach the main boat launch area. Park in the top (third) tier at the back of the lot.
