Hikers can begin at the museum parking area and hike for 3 miles to the summit of Morrow Mountain. This trail utilizes portions of three other trails: Laurel, Sugarloaf Mountain and Mountain Loop. This trail offers a secluded hiking experience through a mature hardwood forest, crossing streams and gentle slopes, concluding with a strenuous .25 miles hike up the steep slopes of Morrow Mountain.
Directions: From Albemarle, NC, Travel six miles east of Albemarle on NC 740. Turn right (east) onto Morrow Mountain Road and take it into the park. Travel past the park gate and the park residences. The road will fork and you will want to bear right. Follow the park road to the parking and picnic area at the base of Morrow Mountain. You may begin the trail there. Also, you may access this trail from Sugarloaf Mountain Trail which begins by the museum.
