This small zoo has been working hard in recent years to improve the living environment for the animals and the experience for visitors. It has had a lot of success on both counts and is well worth a visit for families. Tigers, lions, bears, otters, meerkats, and golden tamarins are among the inhabitants that are bound to impress little ones. To get the most out of their visit, families should attend the animal talks and presentations. These give kids the opportunity to learn about capuchin and spider monkeys, Malayan sun bears, pelicans, chimpanzees, tigers, tamarins, reptiles, and giraffes. These presentations are also the best way to see Tahi, the zoo's one-legged Kiwi, up close (Kiwis are nocturnal, so you might not see one otherwise).
