At times steep, this mile-long trail begins at Paddy Creek Picnic Area and continues southwest along Paddy Creek. As hikers conquer the bluffs, they will be treated to fine views.

  • Paddy Creek Wilderness covers over 7,000 acres of wildland and formerly homesteaded land returned to a wild state. A 10.3-mile loop, using the Big Piney Trail, traverses the northeastern segment of the wilderness, which is part of the Mark Twain National Forest. It is shared by hikers and equestrians. It offers views, clear streams and old homesites.
  • The entire Big Piney Trail is 17-miles long, combined with 2.1 miles of the Old Military Road Trail, makes for over 19 miles of wilderness paths.
  • Paddy Creek Recreation Area offers a nice campground located in the bottoms of Paddy Creek and makes for a good base camp to explore the wilderness, fish, and float the Big Piney River.
