The Bienville Pines Scenic Area contains 180 acres and is the largest known block of "old-growth" pine timber in Mississippi. Towering loblolly and shortleaf pines, many over 200 years old, continue to dominate the site.
The Bienville Pines Trail meanders through this area, giving hikers the opportunity to observe the plants and animals native to mature pine forests. The main trail is two miles long (shortcuts are available) and includes interpretive stops. It is for foot travel only. No user fees are charged.
Directions: From Forest, MS, Take State Highway 501 south for 1/2 mile to the signed entrance.
