The Witch Dance Horse Trail, located on the Trace Unit, is an 18-mile, multi-loop trail. This is one of the most popular horse trails in Mississippi, winding through varied topography and varied forest settings. Toilet facilities, hitching posts, and parking are provided at the trailhead by the Natchez Trace Parkway. A new trailhead is being developed along Highway 32.

  • This equestrians trail system is located at mile post to 33.2 of the Natchez Trace Parkway. It offers a large picnic area, located in shady woods, as well is restrooms and a small camping area for bicyclers, in addition to being an equestrian trailhead.
  • The trail system here can be somewhat confusing, as the pass sometimes intersects old roads, so bring a GPS and/or compass with you.
  • You will be surprised at the hilliness of the terrain, so bring plenty of water with you whether you are hiking or riding horseback.
