Playa del Carmen's famous pedestrian promenade grows longer every year, now stretching 40 blocks. Quinto Avenida is full of shops, restaurants, bars, and tour operators. The southern end tends to be more kitschy, while the northen end has somewhat classier shops and eateries.

  • There's every kind of restaurant, loud music, boutiques, and the best people-watching around. Definitely an attraction for teens who want to be a part of the action. In the evenings, there are nightclubs galore.
  • If you're staying outside of Playa del Carmen and coming in for the day, combine this with a ferry ride over to Cozumel.
