• Playa Las Islitas has its very own wave, a Guinness world record holder in fact. "The Big Wave" is a colossal 20-footer that carries surfers for more than a mile to shore.
• Facilities are few and far between. In season a couple palapas serve simple fare, but that's about it. Still, there's plenty to do on Las Islitas, even if you don't surf. Swimming, beachcombing, fishing, and collecting shells are all good fun.
• There's no official sign-up sheet to camp, but it's common courtesy to check with the locals before pitching your tent.
