Treat yourself to the best of more than a dozen top-notch surf spots northwest of the twin beach destinations Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo. Capitalize on the reliable left-hand breaks of both beaches—La Saladita's is especially long and machine-like. Find Punta Troncones just outside Troncones village; La Saladita is about seven km. (four miles) away via the town of Los Llanos. Don't count on staying in the tiny village of Troncones proper—there are scores of beach hotels along the coast, many geared toward surfers.
