Secret Canyon Trail extends over 13.8 miles of which 13 lie within the Pine Creek Wilderness. The trail is accessible from two locations; in the south at Horsethief Trailhead and in the north off Old Highway 80. The trail is open to both hikers and equestrians offering a moderate to strenuous trek. The Secret Canyon Trail and Espinosa Trail are the two main trails for hikers and horses on the Descanso Ranger District.

Directions: From Alpine, CA, Travel east on Interstate 8 then head south on Japatul Valley Road. At the fork bear right onto Lyons Valley Road to reach Horsethief Trailhead / Secret Canyon Trail. Just beyond the trailhead is Japatul Fire Station where more info. can be found.
