Open year-round, there's more to Surfside Beach than a beautiful view. Lifeguards are always on duty and neighboring restaurants serve up New England staples by the bowlful. Bike the three-mile path to the beach or hop on the public shuttle.

Surfers brave the cold water and winds to catch mega waves, but the current is far too powerful for kids and not-so-strong swimmers. A walk down the shore is just as satisfying, especially when the warm afternoon sun becomes overpowering. There's nothing more refreshing than cool water foaming around your bare feet.
