A hands-down favorite Ptown eatery for years, this homey, interesting restaurant in a 200-year-old inn has welcomed guests since 1915. Each airy, bright room virtually floats atop the ocean. There is a rich history here, including stays from the Roosevelts and several presidents. The award-winning, fifty-four seat restaurant feels like someone's living room with wooden floors, fireplaces, and huge windows overlooking the bay. The prices are steep, the wait staff at times indifferent, but it's all worth it for the fresh fish, lobster, lamb, and pasta dishes, not to mention great wines. Have a drink out on the back porch while you're waiting for your table—reservations can be hard to come by, sometimes for weeks at a time. The grounds are also the perfect setting for a same-sex wedding, of course legal in Massachusetts.
