The Life of the Forest Trail offers sights of a maritime woods including ponds and wind swept pines. You'll also see a variety of stunted shrub such as wax myrtle, northern bay berry, and wild black cherry. The short, easy trail is handicapped accessible offering an observation tower that provides an expansive view of Chincoteague Bay. The quiet hiker may even get a glimpse of resident sika deer and the "ponies." This trail is well known among bird watchers. Binoculars and bug repellent recommended. This is an interpretive trail with signs along the path and a trail guide ($) available from any of the visitor centers.

Directions: From Berlin, MD, Travel east along Route 376 about 4 miles turning right onto Route 611. Follow it several miles south carrying it directly to the parkland. After entering National Seashore, stay on the main road and look for the well-marked trailhead parking.
