Owned by the glamorous Marjorie Merriweather Post (heir to the Post cereal fortune and co-founder of Birdseye frozen foods), the brick Georgian-style mansion dates back to 1926, and sits on twenty-five acres overlooking Washington's Rock Creek Park. Post’s years of collecting works of art includes one of the most comprehensive collections of eighteenth and nineteenth-century Russian Imperial art outside of Russia, acquired when she was married to the U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union. The sumptuously decorated rooms of the house harbor a diamond crown worn by Empress Alexandra, Beauvais tapestries, and two Imperial Easter eggs by Carl Fabergé. The grounds include a Japanese-style
