Firewarden is one of several trails to 2,006-foot Pleasant Mountain. The five-mile route (up and back) is an easy trek for the entire family. Once hikers reach the firewarden's tower, there are great views of the ponds and mountains.

  • On the other end of the mountain from the Shawnee Peak Ski area, this quiet summit has an old firewarden's tower. The views west take in lakes, foothills and the White Mountains.
  • This trail climbs steadily but on a fairly smooth trail. It is a good intermediate hike to warm up for the tougher trails of the White Mountains.
