Parks and OutdoorsExpert Tips & Helpful Hints
  • See the gardens that have been kept up and enhanced after the 1849 estate burned in 1963. The ruins add a haunting splendor to the experience as you travel down the live oak archway leading to the ruins.
  • See the gardens in spring, when they are at their best and most colorful.
  • The terraced gardens are the highlight of a visit, but you can't ignore the history, especially when you visit the old family cemetery. Guided tours last about an hour.
