This restaurant first opened in 1959 and remains one of the most well-known establishments in the south of Italy. Situated next to the Ancient Arsenals, in a building from AD 1100, it's steeped in history, with priceless art on the walls and an arched ceiling festooned with clouds. There's also a rich collection of ceramics by the most famous masters of Vietri. (No wonder it's considered a "restaurant museum.") The menu is based on actual historically accurate dishes from the kitchens of Amalfi. Chef Antonio Dipino has made quite a name for himself by blending tradition with modern creativity, like seaweed fritters and pasta tubes. The wine list is so elaborate that they opened up an adjoining wine shop, one of the best in the region.
