Since it's one of the Amalfi Coast's most popular tourist destinations, you'll no doubt hear about this incredible sea cave way before you see it. You'll need to charter a boat or join one of the tourist cruises leaving from Amalfi town, since it's located in Concai dei Marini, a lovely bay about three miles to the west. The hidden cavern was discovered by a local fisherman in 1932 and was once a dry cave that shifted halfway into the sea via earthquakes. At its highest point, its ceiling reaches about 75 feet. Its stalactites are thin and delicate, while its stalagmites thrust and twist up from the sea. The water is electric blue, and you can swim and even scuba dive there. Be aware that on a stormy or rough day, you may not be able to get inside the grotto.
