La Mano is a giant concrete and very creepy hand coming out of the beach, and it's a symbol of the city. It might remind you of Thing from The Addams Family. It's often the site of fashion shoots and a perfect place to pose for an "I was in Punta del Este" photo. Local authorities often spend time undoing what graffiti artists have done to it overnight. It was created by Chilean artist Mario Irrarazabal and unveiled in 1981.
