This small Berber village about 11 miles north of Agadir, Taghazout (pronounced "Ta-ra-zoot") is home to about 5,000 residents. Put firmly on the hippie map in the '70s, the place still retains a laid-back vibe of yester-year, with little infrastructure, just the way everyone likes it. Taghazout is one of the most popular surf hangouts in the country, and is also home to a bonafide surfcamp with credentialed instructors. (In summer when Tagahzout waves are small, there are better waves in nearby Tamri, Imsoune, or Tifnit.) Nonsurfers will enjoy the relatively empty and hassle-free beach scene that feels more in touch with Morocco than Agadir's commercialism. You can get to Taghazout via the #12 and #14 bus lines that leave from the center of Agadir.
