The establishment that used to be unassumingly named The Pub now lives in infamy as Ollie's Last Pub, since this is where actor Oliver Reed died at the age of 61 after a drinking binge during the filming of the movie Gladiator in May 1999. The bar is now full of photos and articles about the beloved thespian—and a toast is given every night at the moment he kicked the bucket! Run by the Cremona family for the past couple of decades, the English-style bar became Reed's favorite drinking spot when he was in Malta on holidays. On the night when the great landlord in the sky called last orders on him, Ollie supposedly drank eight pints of lager, 12 double rums, and half a bottle of Famous Grouse Scotch, and beat a few young sailors in arm-wrestling contests. Now there are candles, mugs, plates, T-shirts, and even bookmarks for sale with pictures of Reed on them.
