This large park and reserve is made up of more than 50,000 acres of prime ocean, directly fronting most of Mombasa's resorts and tourist infrastructure. No wonder the resorts work alongside the government in protecting this natural attraction from poachers and illegal fishermen. This is the most heavily visited of Kenya's marine parks, made up of hanging reefs, large coral heads, sea grass, seaweed, sandy bottoms, and a variety of underwater life from crabs to sea stars to jellyfish to dolphins. Most resorts can arrange an organized snorkel or dive of the park, and the Nyali, Bamburi and Shanzu beaches all have good access to the park.
