The river was long used to transport bananas from field to port, on narrow rafts made from stalks of bamboo. But it's said that Errol Flynn frequented this "lover's lane" with local girls in the 1950s, and soon the river's potential as a languid tourist attraction was born. The rafts invite snuggling, in a seat just large enough for two, as your punting boatman glides you down the quiet waterway. Along the way, you'll find pullouts for snacks and drinks—or even informal meals.
