Contrary to popular belief, Booby Cay is named for the peculiar blue-footed birds that nest here, not for the nude sunbathers who tan on its ivory shore. The cay is a popular spot for snorkeling, diving, swimming, and picnicking. Ringed by reefs thick with elkhorn and brain coral, the island's waters are home to octopus, lobster, and sea turtles. Hiking trails crisscross the cay and snake through the north and west shores.
