Although this is primarily a diving company offering excellent trips to Cyprus' amazing underwater scenery, divers and nondivers alike should check into their special turtle land tours. For about one hundred million years, the waters of North Cyprus have been visited by green turtles (Chelonia mydas) and the loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) which primarily nest in Cyprus and southeast Turkey. On nights from May through August, the females crawl ashore on the deserted beaches of North Cyprus to nest and the area's Alagadi Beach is classified as a special protected area. There they lay up to 100 eggs before shuffling back to the sea, and visitors can observe it all from a respectful distance. You are guided by environmental students who inform you about the creatures, and you can also witness the small hatchlings emerging from their sandy nests and fight their way to the water fifty days later.
