Nudist beaches (marked by "FKK" signs) are a big part of the coastal scene in Croatia, and they are generally family affairs where grandma, grandpa, parents, and the kids will all frolic in the buff enjoying the sun and sea. This is said to be one of the best beaches in the country, on the southern side of the island of Bol near the village of the same name. It's the western end of the world-famous "Zlatni Rat" (Golden Horn), a spit of curved sand where the forest meets the sea. It has rocky coves, pebble beaches, and great swimming, and nearly everyone is nude at the far end of the shore. There is shade and even caves there. Come early in summer, since the place gets packed. Other naturist beaches on the island can be found on the east coast, between Supetar and Sumartin.
