The Maligne Canyon is an amazing gorge carved by the Maligne River. Sheer limestone walls drop to a depth of 17 stories with intense waterfalls pounding potholes and gushing through intricate chutes. A trail leads visitors along its edge and over six bridges on an hourlong (one-way) self-guided tour. The spectacle is open in winter too, with local outfitters offering ice walks for visitors age six and up. Icefalls plaster the walls. The ice is so thick most years that it actually roofs over, transforming the canyon into a series of ice caves. You'll need cleats for grip on the frozen canyon floor. Tours are even offered at night.
