Fringed by tall, skinny coconut palms and gem-clear waters, Balneario Luquillo is one of the most visited beaches in northeastern Puerto Rico. By noon, the crescent-shaped shore fills with sun-loving tourists and locals. Seasonal solid winds and calm waters draw windsurfers and jet skiers, many who stay the day, snacking on fresh fritters and empanadas of all kinds. After a strenuous afternoon on the water, beachgoers can freshen up in the public showers and check in at one of the nearby hotels.
