Created by an earthquake in 1991, this dive site about a half-mile off Playa Cocles features a unique topography punctuated with fractures and sinkholes. The geologic activity opened tunnels and formed rock ledges that now bloom with thick crusts of corals, sponges, sea fans and gorgonians. Crabs, lobster and the occasional nurse shark reside within the crevices while reef fish feed among the soft coral. The dive starts in about 20 feet of water, with a maximum depth around 45 feet, making this a great dive for beginners or those looking to extend their time on the bottom.
