  • Visitors with mobility restrictions should be aware that getting around Maho Bay Estate requires climbing a lot of stairs. A lush forest rises from the beach to an altitude of almost 1,000 feet.
  • You'll need a permit from the park department to use the facilities at Maho. A pavilion on the west end of the beach issues the permits, which also allows you access to restrooms.
  • The Goat Trail at the east end of the Maho Bay Beach leads to Little Maho Bay, where the campgrounds are located.
The Trust for Public Land bought Estate Maho Bay to save it from private development with a plan to add the property to Virgin Islands National Park. This means that the 415-acre estate is available to visitors for hiking, bird watching,
