This is one activity during which you won't be embarrassed holding hands as you navigate the schools of tropical fish swimming tamely through the coral. While much of the island is divinely off the beaten track, several sites can get crowded with day-trippers from St. Thomas. Accessed by a three-quarter-mile trail, quiet Leinster Bay is a covert favorite. Just a few hundred feet offshore is tiny Waterlemon Cay, an islet where turtle grass shelters a galaxy of starfish and a shallow reef lures a rainbow of colorful fish.
