The 35-kilometer Valley Trail runs the full length of the Whistler Valley, linking Whistler Village with the surrounding lakes, parks, and residential areas. Paved, wide, and smooth, it is ideal for biking, hiking, and in-line skating, and for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Three meters (ten feet) wide and divided for two-way traffic, it winds around a golf course, through forest, alongside streams, past beautiful chateaus, and to parks and lakes, all the while with white-peaked mountains in the backdrop. Lost Lake Park, Alpha Lake Park, and Rainbow Beach are popular stops en route; bring a picnic. You can access the network from the village, but a good section for children is from Meadow Park at the end of Lorimer Road—a five-minute drive away—to Rainbow Park, a flat seven-kilometer (four-mile) stretch. Leave enough time to return before sunset.
