There's a big thrill factor to ziplining—to careening through the air along steel ziplines suspended high above the white-water river that divides Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. There's no skill required, no experience necessary. There's a choice of two guided tours, each with five zipline rides that gain progressively in length, height, and speed—peaking with a 2,000-foot-long cable that drops more than 20 stories while reaching speeds of 80 kilometers per hour (50 mph). The tamer of the tours, best suited for families and first-timers, is the Ziptrek Bear. The first line of this tour is done right in Whistler Village. It's just 100 feet long but nevertheless provides a taste of exhilaration. There are bail-out points—if you or your kids don't wish to continue—but refunds are not given. Minimum age is six, and those who weigh less than 65 pounds ride tandem with a guide. The minimum weight requirement for the higher-end Eagle Tour is 70 pounds.
