The oft-photographed Teton mountains stand as enduring symbols of the rugged West. At their feet is a landscape of sage- and wildflower-covered valley and chilly lakes carved eons ago by glaciers. The imposing granite peaks of the Tetons can be seen from almost anywhere in the park, and the Snake River, which winds through the valley, provides plenty of opportunity for outdoor recreation, including fly-fishing and rafting. You would be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful spot in North America to snowshoe in winter—rangers offer guided treks—and there are hiking trails for every ability.
