The only steep area is toward the lower end in the brush patches. Bull Elk Park Natural Area can be seen to the left across the drainage.

Trail Beginning: 6,200 ft. at old Kearns Cow Camp at the end of the Dry Fork four-wheel drive road.

Trail Ending: 4,600 ft. at the Little Horn River stock bridge.

Attractions and Considerations: The Dry Fork Trail offers a gradual, sloping track until the last two miles of steeper hills. There are a few wet areas along the way.

Narrative: Trail winds it way up and down hills, across open sagebrush parks, and through lodgepole stands. The lower end has some spruce and ponderosa stands. Bull Elk Park Natural Area can be seen to the left across the drainage. Elk and deer are abundant in the spring and fall and an occasional bear might be spotted. The only steep area is toward the lower end in the brush patches. Overall the trail is generally moderate.

Directions: From Sheridan, Take Interstate 90 west from Sheridan, Wyoming, to Ranchester, Wyoming. Take US Hwy. 14 from Ranchester to Burgess Junction. Turn right on Forest Road #532, Burgess Road, northwest five miles to junction of Forest Road #528, Fool Creek Basin Road. Turn right and go 4 1/2 miles down Fool Creek Ridge to Dry Fork sign. Follow Dry Fork Jeep road approximately five miles to Old Kerns Cow Camp. Trial can also be reached from the lower end by vehicle by using the Wyoming Game and Fish road through the Fuller Ranch.
