  • Amid all the high-tech, high-octane attractions of 21st-century Wisconsin Dells, Circus World hankers back to a time when these traveling funhouses were the big event in town. Younger kids will especially enjoy the circus workshops, live shows, rides, and sideshows, while adults and older kids should be sure to check out the museum detailing the history of circuses around the U.S.
  • Read Water for Elephants, a 2006 novel by Sara Gruen, before you go. Centered around a Depression-era traveling circus, it'll add some fictional color to your trip to Circus World, especially on the guided tour around Ringlingville, the winter quarters of the original Ringling Bros. Circus.
