The Spring Peeper Trail starts its wetland journey by heading south from the park office / picnic area. This short 0.65-mile hike is named for the small amphibian that thrives amid the marshland. More than likely, you'll hear the spring peeper rather than seeing it; the symphonic chorus is very distinct. Habitat along the trail varies from mature oak and maple to open fields lush with cardinal flower and marsh marigolds, attractors for hummingbirds and tiger swallowtail butterflies and dragon flies. Acorn Trail is crossed over.
Directions: From Friendship, WI, Travel north about one mile on Hwy. 13 to reach the park entrance. From the park office / picnic area, the trail heads south then west. Retrace steps back to lot at end of trail.
