The Allegheny Highlands Trail offers 25 miles of non-motorized recreation surrounded by exceptional scenery. Following the original route of the West Virginia Central & Pittsburg Railway built by Henry Gassaway Davis in 1884, the trail delivers a panorama of landscapes from small towns and rural farmland to wooded forests and sweeping riverside vistas. For those who want to bike, country roads form loops along the trail.

Take US Highway 219 north of Elkins to nearby Highland Park. The parking area for Allegheny Highlands Trail is across from Division of Highways District 8 Headquarters.
