Brandywine Lake Recreation Area is a picturesque area featuring swimming, fishing, camping, and picnicking. This ten-acre lake is the center of activity at the Brandywine Recreation Area. The swimming area has a capacity of 500 people.
Boats without motors are welcome beyond the swimming area. The lake offers good fishing for stocked trout and is encircled by an angler's trail. Reminder: A West Virginia fishing license is required to fish in the lake. A hard surfaced trail extends from the parking lot to a wheelchair accessible fishing pier on the east side of the lake.
The facilities at the recreation area include a sand beach for swimming, picnic tables, 34 camping units with flush toilet facilities, changing rooms, and nearby hiking trails. Each campsite has a tent pad, picnic table, lantern post, and grill. Vault and flush toilets, warm water showers, drinking water, and a trailer dump station are available. Water is cut off early each fall due to freezing temperatures.
