This trail offers the hiker a pleasant walk around Douthat Lake.

Heron Run Trail is a pleasant 1.5-mile (round trip) blue-blazed trail that meanders along Douthat Lake. The easy path wanders in and out of coves giving the walker ample opportunity to spot the trail's name sake.

Directions: From Clifton Forge, VA, From Clifton Forge, Virginia head east on I-64 to Exit 27. Turn North onto Rt. 629 and travel three miles to the park entrance sign and four more miles to the park office. Travel the main park road to Campground A. Trailhead is located in the lakeside loop of this campground.
