This is a day-long hike for the walking enthusiast. It twists and turns, ascends and descends all the while providing a wonderful mountain experience.

This hike is for the hiker looking for scenic views and good exercise wrapped into one. The circuit trail is 9 miles in length and can be very strenuous at times. However, this trail is rewarding as it travels through a variety of environments ranging from deep quiet woodlands to mountaintop open views. Locust Gap Trail connects Blue Suck Falls and Stony Run Trail with a gradual descent of 1,900 feet. Tobacco House Ridge Trail spurs from Blue Suck to take the hiker back to the parking area. Many of Douthat's trails are interconnected and it is highly recommended that the hiker obtain a map from the park office.

Directions: From Clifton Forge, VA, From Clifton Forge, Virginia head east on I-64 to Exit 27. Turn North onto Rt. 629 and travel three miles to the park entrance sign and four more miles to the park office. Stony Run Falls trailhead is in the first parking area after the entrance, while Blue Suck Falls Trails may be located from the parking area across from the park office.

Elevation Gain: 1,200 feet

Distance: 9 miles
