The New River Gorge Bridge is the world's second longest single-arch bridge, at 876-feet tall. Besides providing sweeping of the New River Gorge year-round, the bridge hosts Bridge Day, the largest extreme sports event in the world, on the third Saturday in October every year. Hundreds of BASE jumpers and nearly 200,000 spectators usually attend. The bridge serves as the launch point for six hours of safe, legal BASE jumps.
