The Heather Lake Trail is a moderate 1.9 mile hike. The trail begins along the Pilchuck Road #42 and ends at 17.5 acre Heather Lake. The trail follows an old logging road for the first 0.5 mile. Thirty foot tall trees occupy and old clear-cut as you climb gently up to a flat where a lake is situated beneath the cliffs of Mt. Pilchuck. The lake is in a subalpine setting and is quite popular all months of the year, especially during summer. The rocky shores on the south side of the lake offer the best opportunity for fishing access, wildflower viewing and berry picking.

Directions: From Verlot, Travel one mile east on the Mt. Loop Hwy. Turn right on the Pilchuck Road #42 and continue 1.5 miles to the trailhead on the left.
