If you're visiting Galveston during the summer months, chances are good you'll need to cool off. The Schlitterbahn Waterpark offers 32 different ways to get wet, have fun, and beat the heat. Three distinct areas offer a variety of water coasters, water slides, kiddie play areas, a wave pool, whitewater rapids, and an air-conditioned arcade. A dozen attractions can be used during the winter or on rainy days: Schlitterbahn Galveston Island is the first convertible waterpark, which means entire sections can become indoors during cold or inclement weather.

Though ticket prices can be steep for the whole family, the park offers budget-friendly perks: parking is free, tubes and lifejackets are free, and unlike many parks, you're allowed to bring in your own food for picnicking (no glass or alcohol allowed). The park also offers a variety of options for food and drink, including swim-up bars. Lockers are available for a fee plus deposit, and Splash Cash waterproof wristbands allow you to make purchases without having to carry around cash or credit cards.
