Galveston Island has an exciting maritime history, and what better way to experience it than through a tour of a 19th-century tall ship? At the Texas Seaport Museum you'll find the 1877 Elissa, a floating National Historic Landmark as well as one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's "America's Treasures". The 200-foot iron cargo vessel is open to the public to walk the decks and marvel at the tall sails that once carried this ship across the ocean.
