Set along the banks of the Tennessee River, just across from Nathan Bedford Forest State Park, trails loop through an area that was once a town, a railroad, and a Civil War battle site. Alongside Kentucky Lake, hilly terrain provides an attractive setting for this walk into Tennessee history. The Battle of Johnsonville is the only time in recorded history that men riding horseback defeated a naval force. Today, the area is a state park with six miles of hiking trails.
