This yellow-sand beach backed by rolling green hills and peppered with black rocks is so named because it's shaped like the Hindu spiritual symbol of Om, the invocation that created the universe. It's said to be the best beach in India, and it's a favorite spot for Goa tourists, even though it lies south in Gokarna, an hour across the border into the adjoining state of Karnataka. Every year, more low-key guesthouses and thatched huts (called "cafes") open near the beach, but the place still retains its underdeveloped and very clean charm. The waves are good for bodysurfing, and although nude sunbathing is technically illegal, many travelers go in the buff here.
