South Carolina's coastal waters harbor more than a dozen reefs and wrecks popular with new and pro divers. The Sherman, a former 200-foot blockade runner, is a treasure trove of post-war artifacts—bottles, belt buckles, and buttons lay undiscovered on the ship's floor.

Barracuda Alley is an artificial reef fringed with concrete piping and steel frames. The divers' training site is a favorite spot of spadefish and—you guessed it—barracuda.
