• Battleships always face out to sea when they're in harbor, ever ready to sail and defend. Not the Missouri. Her prow faces Pearl Harbor, standing guard over the sunken Arizona and the memorial built at the site.
• Passengers can peer over the railing at the spot where a Japanese Kamikaze pilot slammed into the ship.
• Security is tight on this military site. You cannot bring the following items on board: a backpack, purse (even a small one), diaper bag, fanny pack, shopping bag, large video camera, luggage, or any item in which anything could be concealed. Cameras are allowed sans carrying bags.

Walk in General Douglas MacArthur's footsteps to the very deck where Japan surrendered, ending World War II. It's all part of the fascinating, haunting, and poignant tours offered aboard the Missouri.

• If you're at a major Waikiki hotel, ask your hotel concierge about shuttle pickup for Pearl Harbor historic sites.
• No bags allowed on the memorial or the shuttles, not even diaper bags or purses. Storage is available nearby.
• No strollers allowed. Put babies in front packs rather than backpacks for safety; there are lots of low overheads.
